What is One Touch Switching?
One Touch Switching (OTS) is a standardised process where your new broadband provider handles the entire switch on your behalf, including notifying your old provider that you are leaving, without you needing to separately contact your current provider to cancel.
How it works step by step
You sign up with your chosen new provider. They send an automated notification to your current provider through a centralised industry system. Your current provider processes the transfer. You receive a confirmation of the switch date. On switch day, the transfer happens. No phone calls to cancel your old service, no navigating retention teams, no risk of accidentally giving too little notice.
Does it apply to all broadband providers?
One Touch Switching applies to broadband products delivered over Openreachs network, which covers the majority of UK home broadband.
Does OTS waive any early termination fees?
No. One Touch Switching streamlines the administrative process of switching but does not override your contractual obligations. If you are still within a minimum contract period, your current provider can still apply early termination charges.
